For Anthem insurance members, there is a new Anthem security requirement. Anthem now requires all members to use two-factor authentication (2FA) when logging in to their online accounts and has discontinued the use of security questions and answers. This change comes directly from Anthem—not HealthLock—and is designed to provide an extra layer of protection for your information. Before updating your Anthem insurance in HealthLock, please ensure that two-factor authentication is enabled on your Anthem portal.
Here’s what to do on the Anthem website:
1. Go to the Anthem login page.
2. Enter your Username and Password.
3. If you’re using a new device, Anthem will prompt you to verify your identity.
4. Choose to receive a one-time security code via text or email.
5. Enter the one-time security code when prompted.
6. Click Verify to finish the 2FA process and access your account.
Here’s what to do on the HealthLock website:
1. Sign in to your HealthLock account.
2. On the Dashboard, scroll to Insurance Connections, then select Connect insurance.
3. In the Select your insurance prompt, enter Anthem in the search box.
4. In the Sign in to your insurance prompt, select the checkboxes for Terms of Use and Acknowledgement to import claims, then select Connect to www.anthem.com
5. In the Please select your account, display, confirm the default selection, then select LOG IN.
6. In the box labeled Log in to your member account, enter your Anthem Email Address or Username and Password, then select LOGIN.
7. When prompted for TEXT, VOICE, or EMAIL, make a selection, then select SEND.
8. Enter the one-time security code when prompted. You can optionally select the Remember my device checkbox, then select VERIFY.
9. In the Authorization Request display, select the MEMBER NAME for Whose record do you want to allow access to?, then select AGREE.
10. The system will process the request and may take a few minutes. Please do not refresh the page.
11. Next, a confirmation page labeled Your Patient Access Enrollment is Complete will display briefly.
12. Once the All set for now! message appears, select Done.
13. REPEAT this process for each DEPENDENT NAME (family member(s) included on your insurance by selecting the DEPENDENT NAME in Step 9.
Because of this new Anthem requirement, you can still log in to your HealthLock portal without re-authenticating with Anthem right away. However, to retrieve your most up-to-date claims, Anthem will require you to complete their re-authentication process for the account member and each authorized dependent.
