How to check if Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) is turned ON or OFF for Aetna.

Modified on Tue, 18 Nov at 11:39 AM

Two-factor authentication (2FA) is not required for Aetna members, but it is strongly encouraged as an optional security measure. Members can enable 2FA for an extra layer of protection for their account by going to the "Profile & Preferences" section on the Aetna website after logging in.

When 2FA in enabled (or turned ON), you will need to provide a code from Aetna to HealthLock during the connection process.

Step 1: Go to aetna.com and click the 'Log in' button, then the 'Member log-in' button.

Step 2: Enter your Aetna User name and Password and click 'Sign In'.

Step 3: You should be asked to verify your account with a code. This means that two-step verification is on. Enter the code to proceed, otherwise go to Step 4.

Step 4: In the upper right-hand corner, hover over your name and select Profile & Preferences.

Step 5: In the Preferences section, select Privacy & Security.

Step 6: In the 'A Safe Way to Sign In' box, select Get Started with 2FA and follow the system prompts to enable (turned ON) or disable (turn OFF) 2FA.

Step 7: Return to your HealthLock member portal and Log in

Step 8: In the left navigation panel, select Settings to expand the options, then select Insurance

Step 9:  Select the Aetna insurance option, then select the Click for claims link to re-authenticate.

Step 10: Enter your Aetna Username and Password. Once successfully linked, your claims will be downloaded and analyzed within 1-3 days.
