How to set up security questions and answers on the UnitedHealthcare (UHC) website.

Modified on Wed, 8 May at 1:42 PM

UHC uses various methods to maintain the security of your information. Verifying my United Healthcare (UHC) “HealthSafe ID” is set for "Questions and Answers, not Two-Factor Authentication."

To allow communication and claims/bills syncing, we need your UHC account set to Multi-Factor Authentication using “Questions and Answers.”

To Confirm Your Two-Factor Authentication Is Turned Off:

  • Go to https://prod.member.myuhc.com/
  • Go to Account Profile >  Account Settings > Healthsafe ID Password and Account Recovery. If you are still set for two-factor authentication through your phone number, a popup will show up to send the CODE.

To Change To Questions and Answers:

  • Go to https://prod.member.myuhc.com/
  • Select “Account Settings” at the top right of the screen.
  • Select “Manage HealthSafe ID.”
  • Select “Edit” under Account Recovery.
  • Select the drop-down tab in Phone Number (the US only) and change to “Security Questions.”This is where all the security questions and answers are added.
  • Lastly, using your new Questions and Answers, LOG IN to your HealthLock account.
  • Click the red “FIX” button to accept the changes with your carrier.

*Everything must match exactly. Username, Password, and all Questions and Answers must be exact including upper/lowercase, spaces, etc.
